Japan through Western Eyes
This collection of microforms is the second part of a five-part series from the William Elliot Griffis Collection, Rutgers University Library. It is comprised of manuscript records of traders, travelers, missionaries and diplomats from 1853-1941. The collection is most useful to scholars of early Japanese - U.S. interaction. Part II covers both Griffis's own journals, 1859-1928, and a series of essays written by his students at Kaisei Gekko. There are 31 journals in total.
