Description

70-82 AD--Roman--diagram showing the canopy used to cover the Colosseum's seating. Posts along the top held up the canopy with rope and rigging--a full complement of sailors was needed to fly and control the canopy--in fact, due to this reason the Colosseum was commissioned as a ship in the Roman Navy.
